13 Tips for Maintaining Personal Balance this New Year

1. Align your values with your behavior.
2. Ask your friends or loved ones if they think your work is consuming too much of your life.
3. If you strive for a bigger paycheck every year, know why!
4. If you've been depressed or distraught for more than a month, seek professional help.
5. If your marriage is suffering because of work, seek professional help.
6. Work smarter, not harder.
7. Copy role models who are happier than you, not those who merely earn more commissions than you do.
8. Develop a support system.
9. When you experience burnout, negotiate for a leave of absence.
10. Take extended vacations.
11. Contribute time to the helpless, sick, homeless, or hungry.
12. Listen to your spouse and kids.
13. Focus on one priority at a time.
